Route — Demo account, in sequence

Where the Exness demo account sits in the order of steps

A demo is often described as the easy way in, which makes it sound like a way around registration. It is not: it sits after it. Registration on the official exness.com comes first, the Personal Area opens next, and the demo account is created inside the Personal Area at no cost, trading virtual funds at real market prices. Removing the deposit is the only thing a demo changes about the sequence — every other step stands exactly where it stood.

Independent partner guide. The broker is Exness; this site is not. No account is opened here and no password is ever typed here — every button leads to the official exness.com, where registration and the Personal Area live.

Two routes, one order

What the demo drops from the sequence, and what it leaves untouched

Laid side by side, the two routes are the same list with one row removed and one row postponed. Reading them that way answers most of the questions people ask before starting.

StepFunded accountDemo account
Registration Email and a short questionnaire on the official exness.com Identical — there is no shorter version of this step
Personal Area Signed in with the email address and password chosen at registration Identical — the demo is created inside it
New trading account Real is chosen Demo is chosen instead; this is the only fork in the whole list
Platform MT4 or MT5, fixed at creation Identical, and just as final
Deposit Made in the Personal Area before real trading Removed — the balance is virtual
Identity verification Completed in the Personal Area before real trading Not part of practice; it waits for the funded account
Terminal and sign-in Installed from the downloads page, signed in with the account's own values Identical

Two rows changed out of seven. That is the honest size of the difference, and it is why a practice run rehearses the sequence rather than replacing it. Installers for every route are on the downloads page, the routes themselves sit on the platform board, and the registration step is written out in the registration guide.

The honest limit of a rehearsal

What virtual funds reproduce faithfully, and the one thing they cannot

A demo receives the same market prices as a real account, so the charts and the quotes line up exactly and nothing about the screen is a simplification. The gap is not in the data at all. It sits at the instant an order is filled, and in the person watching it.

Reproduced exactly

The prices, the instruments and the way an order is placed. Everything visible is the live thing, which is why a rehearsal is worth running at all rather than being a toy version of the platform.

Not reproduced: execution

Slippage — a fill at a different price than the one quoted — belongs to live execution, and no practice account has any reason to produce it. It is the difference between the price on the screen and the price on the ticket.

Not reproduced: the weight of it

The same click is a different decision when the balance is not virtual. Nothing about a demo rehearses that, and it is the part most people assume they have already practised.

Which sets the scope precisely: a rehearsal proves the sequence, the platform and the plan, and it proves nothing whatever about nerve. Trading is risky and may not be suitable for everyone.

The note written during practice

Two sets of keys in the same handwriting

Whatever gets jotted down while a demo is being set up describes the demo — and says so nowhere on itself. Weeks later, once a funded account exists too, that missing word is the whole problem.

Why an unlabelled note ages badly

  • Two practice runs look identical on paper. Written the same day, in the same hand, one under the other, the sets are told apart only by the memory of which was written first — which is exactly the thing that fades.
  • A wrong set looks like a forgotten password. Nothing in a refusal announces that the values simply belong to the other account, so the time goes into recovering something that was never lost.

The fix costs one word and has to be written at the moment of creation rather than later: name the account each set belongs to, on the line above it, before moving on. Nothing else in this sequence is as cheap to get right and as tedious to untangle afterwards.

Before an order is placed

Reading which account is on the screen

Two places that answer it, and they agree

  • The Personal Area says it in words. Each account has its own card there, and the card states plainly what kind of account it is alongside the number. This is the authority when there is any doubt at all.
  • The terminal shows the number and the server. A signed-in terminal displays the account number and the server line at the top of its account list. Matching those two against the labelled note settles the question in a couple of seconds.
  • The balance is a hint, not an answer. A round virtual figure looks like a demo, but a funded balance can be any number at all, and reading the account type out of the balance is a habit that eventually fails at the worst moment.

Why this check belongs before the first order

The two accounts behave identically up to the instant an order is confirmed, because both receive the same market prices and both open positions the same way. The difference appears only in what the result is made of.

That is why the check is done at sign-in, once, rather than being relied upon to become obvious. Nothing on the chart will announce which account is being traded.

Trading is risky and may not be suitable for everyone.

The end of the rehearsal

The three steps practice never reaches

A demo covers the sequence up to a point and then stops. Knowing where it stops is more useful than knowing what it contains, because the remaining steps arrive at once and none of them has a rehearsal.

Step after · 1

The identity check

Verification is completed in the Personal Area before real trading and has no equivalent during practice. It is a step of its own, done once, and it is worth knowing it is coming rather than meeting it as a surprise on the day a funded account is wanted.

Step after · 2

The first funding

A demo removes this step entirely, so nothing about it has been practised when it appears. It happens in the Personal Area on the official Exness website, and it is the point at which the sequence stops being reversible in the way practice is.

Step after · 3

The route back out

Taking funds out again is requested in the Personal Area and, like the step before it, exists only for funded accounts. There is nothing in a demo that corresponds to it, and no way to try it in advance.

None of the three is a reason to skip the practice — they are a reason to know what the practice covered. A funded account is opened separately in the same Personal Area, the demo stays where it is, and the five account types are compared on the account types page.

Quick answers

Order-of-steps questions about a demo account

Can a demo be opened before registering?

No. The demo is created inside the Personal Area, and the Personal Area exists only after registration on the official exness.com. Registration takes an email and a short questionnaire, and nothing about choosing a demo shortens it.

Does a demo need verification or a deposit first?

Neither. The balance is virtual, so there is nothing to fund, and identity verification belongs to real trading rather than to practice. Both steps wait until a funded account is actually wanted.

How long does a practice account stay usable?

The current lifetime rules are published on the official Exness website — they are policy and can change, which is why no independent page should be quoted on them. If a replacement is needed, opening one takes about a minute in the Personal Area.

The demo was created for the wrong platform — what now?

A second demo for the other platform is opened in the same Personal Area. Accounts are created per platform, so this is the ordinary answer rather than a repair, and the first one can simply be left where it is.

Are the prices on a practice account the real ones?

Yes — the same market prices as a real account, so charts and quotes line up. What a rehearsal cannot show is live execution: slippage, meaning a fill at a different price than the one quoted, and the weight of real money behind the same click.

Does the demo turn into a funded account later?

No. A funded account is opened separately in the same Personal Area, with its own three values, and the demo stays available alongside it for testing. Nothing is converted and nothing has to be closed first.

Step one is the same for both routes

Registration on the official Exness website — an email and a short questionnaire — opens the Personal Area, and the demo is created there immediately afterwards, before any deposit. Virtual funds, real market prices, on MT4, MT5, the Web Terminal or the Exness Trade app.

The button is the handover point of the sequence: it forwards to exness.com over this site's partner route, and every step listed above takes place there rather than here. No password is ever entered on this page.
