Before the app is installed
Exness app download: what to have ready before the install begins
Installing the Exness Trade app takes a minute. The screen after it takes longer, because it asks for the Personal Area email address and password — the website login, not a trading account number — and then hands over to an identity check and an account list that were supposed to exist already. Four answers gathered beforehand turn that whole chain into typing. This page collects them, in the order they are needed.
Gathered first
Four answers to have in hand before the install
Only one of the four lives on the phone. The other three were produced earlier, on the official website, and every one of them is asked for within about ninety seconds of the app opening for the first time.
-
Which app the account actually calls for
The Exness Trade app connects to MT5-based accounts. A trading account opened on MetaTrader 4 does not sign in to it at all and goes through the MT4 mobile app instead, from the same stores. Each trading account carries its platform from the moment it was created, and the platform is shown beside the account in the Personal Area. Reading that line before the install is what separates one download from two.
-
The registration inbox, open and reachable
This is the item that is forgotten most and costs most. That address receives the one-time verification code when an unfamiliar device signs in — and a new phone is an unfamiliar device by definition. It also holds the message issued when the trading account was created, carrying the account number and the server name. An address that cannot be opened stops a first sign-in dead, however correct the password is.
-
The password that belongs to the website
The app signs in the way the website does: email address and password, both chosen at registration. It does not ask for the trading account number, the trading password, or a server name — those three belong to the MetaTrader terminals. Anyone arriving from a desktop setup usually has the wrong key in hand at this screen, and a forgotten website password is reset from the official login page, not from inside the app.
-
A document for the identity check
The identity verification required of brokers runs inside the Personal Area, and the app carries the Personal Area with it — so the request usually appears on the phone rather than on a computer. The list of accepted documents is displayed on the screen that asks for them, so nothing needs guessing in advance; what needs preparing is the document itself being at hand rather than in a drawer somewhere.
No account yet at all? Then the list has one item on it. Registration on the official Exness website is an email address, a password, and a short questionnaire, and it creates the Personal Area that every step above refers to. What registration produces →
The one item that is not an account item
Where the file comes from decides how much preparation it needs
Through the App Store or Google Play there is nothing at all to arrange in advance, and updates look after themselves. Through the APK published on the official exness.com — the route for handsets without store access — one thing is worth expecting rather than preparing: the install pauses on a settings screen granting that browser a one-time permission, which is standard behaviour and not a fault, and updates afterwards come from the same official page rather than arriving on their own.
One habit belongs to the file route and no other: read the address bar before a download starts. Copies of the file circulate elsewhere and a modified copy can capture a login. The official website is the source, and this site hosts nothing at all.
Chosen once, on the account side
The pricing decision that sits behind the account — and why it is not a prerequisite
Opening a trading account fixes two things at once: the platform it runs on, and the type that fixes how the broker's charge is taken. Only the first of the two has any bearing on an install, and the second is worth separating out precisely because it looks like the weightier decision and is in fact the one that keeps.
The five types fall into two families. Standard and Standard Cent are spread-only: the charge lives inside the spread, the small gap between the buy and the sell price, and there is no minimum deposit to meet. On a Cent account the balance is counted in cents of the account currency, which makes very small real trades possible.
Pro, Raw Spread, and Zero form the professional tier and carry a higher minimum, set by region and shown on the official Exness website and in the Personal Area. Raw Spread and Zero split the charge in two — a raw or zero spread plus a commission per lot, a lot being a standard trade size — while a swap, the overnight-holding fee, applies when a position stays open past the end of the trading day.
None of that changes which file is fetched, which screen asks for what, or whether a first sign-in succeeds. It is written here so that it can be safely set aside: the type is fixed per trading account, and a further account of another type opens alongside the first one whenever it is wanted. The five types compared →
The half that does gate the install
The platform attached to the same account is the half that matters here, and it is not reversible. MT5-based accounts reach the Trade app; accounts opened on MetaTrader 4 do not, and are read beside the account in the Personal Area rather than guessed at.
That asymmetry is the practical shape of this whole page: one property of the account has to be read before an install, and everything else about the account can be looked at afterwards without cost.
Pricing details, minimums, and account specifications follow what Exness publishes and may change. Trading is risky and may not be suitable for everyone.
Where every answer is spent
Screen by screen: what the app asks, and which earlier step produced it
The value of the table is in its right-hand column. Every question the phone asks was answered somewhere else first, and the ones that stall a first evening are always the two that lead back to an inbox.
| What the screen wants | Prepared at which earlier step | |
|---|---|---|
| Getting the file | A store account, or the one-time permission for the browser | The device itself — the only line in the table that does not lead back to the website |
| First sign-in | The Personal Area email address and its password | Chosen at registration on the official exness.com |
| Verification code | A one-time code, on an unfamiliar device | Delivered to the registration address — which is why the inbox belongs on the list |
| Choosing an account inside | A trading account on an MT5-based platform, real or demo | Opened in the Personal Area; the platform was fixed when it was created |
| Identity check | A document, uploaded where the check requests it | Started in the Personal Area after registration; its status is shown there and in the app |
| Account management | Deposits, withdrawals, and account settings | Available inside the app because it carries the Personal Area — nothing extra to prepare |

Two rows point at the same inbox. That is the practical summary of this page: the email address is the item that unlocks the other three, and the only one that cannot be recovered from inside the app.
Not on the list
Four things that do not have to be ready before the install
Preparation stops here
- The account number and server name. They belong to the MetaTrader terminals and their login screens, not to this app. Having them written down does no harm and helps on a desktop later, but the app never asks. Carrying them to this screen is the commonest wrong key of the whole route.
- Money. Registration, verification, the install, and the first sign-in all sit before any funding. A demo account with virtual funds runs inside the app at the same market prices, which makes the entire sequence rehearsable before a deposit exists.
- A decision about the account type. Standard, Standard Cent, Pro, Raw Spread, and Zero differ in how the charge is taken rather than in which app opens them, and a further trading account can be opened later. Only the platform behind the account matters to this install.
- A view on the market. What to trade, and when, is a question of its own and has no bearing on which file to fetch or which screen asks for what.
Anything that goes wrong with the account, verification, or funds belongs to the official Exness support chat, available 24/7 inside the Personal Area on exness.com. Questions about the order of steps on this page can go to Live Help here — it sees no account and asks for no password.
A rehearsal on virtual funds removes the cost of a mistake, not the risk of trading. Trading is risky and may not be suitable for everyone.
Quick answers
Preparing for the app — frequently asked questions
What should be ready before the Exness app is installed?
Four things: which app the trading account calls for, access to the registration email inbox, the Personal Area password, and a document for the identity check. Three of the four were produced on the official website earlier; only the device half — a store account or the one-time install permission — belongs to the phone.
Which login does the Trade app ask for at its first screen?
The Personal Area one: the email address and password chosen at registration. It does not take a trading account number, a trading password, or a server name — those open the MetaTrader terminals instead. Arriving with the terminal key in hand is the most frequent reason a first app sign-in fails.
Why does the email address matter more than the password here?
Because two separate steps route through it. A sign-in from a new phone can trigger a one-time verification code sent to that address, and the message issued when the trading account was created — carrying the account number and server name — went there too. A password can be reset; an inbox that cannot be opened stops the sequence.
Does the identity document have to be uploaded before installing the app?
Not before — but it is worth having reachable, because the check runs inside the Personal Area and the app carries the Personal Area, so the request often lands on the phone. The list of accepted documents appears on the screen that asks for them, and verification runs at its own pace with its status visible throughout.
The account is on MT4 — does anything on this list change?
Yes, the first line. The Trade app takes MT5-based accounts only, so an MT4 account installs the MT4 mobile app from the App Store or Google Play instead. Everything else on the list stays as it is, except that the MT4 app signs in with the account number, trading password, and server name rather than the email address.
Does the account type have to be settled before the install?
No. Standard and Standard Cent take the charge inside the spread and have no minimum deposit; Pro, Raw Spread, and Zero add a commission per lot and carry a regional minimum. The type is fixed per trading account, a further account of another type opens alongside it later, and none of it decides which file is fetched. Only the platform behind the account does.
What does a commission per lot mean on the professional accounts?
A separate fixed fee charged per lot — a lot being a standard trade size — used on Raw Spread and Zero instead of a wider spread. Standard and Standard Cent take the charge inside the spread instead. Separately from either, a swap is the overnight-holding fee applied when a position stays open past the end of the trading day.
What is a Cent account, and does it change anything about the install?
It changes nothing about the install. On a Cent account the balance is counted in cents of the account currency, which makes very small real trades possible; the app route, the sign-in, and the identity check are identical. It is listed here only because it is a decision people expect to have to take before downloading anything, and it is not.
Is a deposit needed before the app can be used?
No. Registration, the install, the first sign-in, and the identity check all sit before any funding, and a demo account with virtual funds works inside the app at the same market prices. Standard and Standard Cent accounts have no minimum deposit when a real account is funded later; the professional accounts carry a regional minimum shown on the official Exness website.
Where should the APK file come from?
From the official exness.com and nowhere else. It downloads there without a login, and it is the same application the store publishes, offered for phones where the store is not available. Files circulating on forums, messenger channels, and mirror sites are the one thing on this page worth being suspicious of.
Is there anything to prepare for an Exness app on a computer?
There is no desktop application to prepare for. On a computer the routes are the MetaTrader terminals, which install and then ask for an account number and server, or the browser terminal, which asks for nothing to be installed at all. The preparation for each of those is set out on the download page.
